Rebekah Brewer
Rebekah has led the development of the district’s Performing Arts program securing Career & Technical Education authorization through the Michigan Department of Education and building a collaborative partnership with the Lapeer Ed Tech Program, affording students across Lapeer County an opportunity to pursue pre-professional-level training at the ICHS Performing Arts Career and Technical Education Program in theatre, musical theatre and dance.
Brewer has choreographed productions for schools, universities, and community theatres across Michigan. She trained in ballet, jazz, tap, and contemporary dance at the Flint Institute of Music, On Stage Studio of Dance and Sandra Brewer’s Studio of Dance, and studied vocal performance at Belmont University.
Rebekah is the Chief Financial Officer of the Michigan Educational Theatre Association and also serves as the State Student Thespian Officer Director on the Adult State Board. She has been a professional educator in Michigan for 27 years, having spent 10 years as a classroom teacher, 12 in building and district level administrative roles and five as a manager within the Michigan Department of Education. She is also the Co-Artistic Director of Broadway Bound Student Theatre, producing and choreographing productions across the Greater Genesee and Lapeer County area.

Don Brewer
Don Brewer is a director, choreographer, educator, and former professional performer with over 20 years of professional theatre experience and 15 years in arts education. A graduate of Western Michigan University’s B.F.A. Musical Theatre program, Don's performing career included over 30 plays and musicals spanning from Las Vegas to Broadway and in national tours before transitioning into directing and teaching.
His Broadway credits include Les Misérables (Revival, 2006), The Pirate Queen, and the final Broadway cast of Les Misérables. He also appeared in the Las Vegas Broadway production of Mamma Mia! and toured nationally with The Who’s Tommy and The Will Rogers Follies. Regionally, he has performed at multiple venues including the world renowned Goodspeed Opera House.
Don currently serves as the theatre and musical theatre teacher at Imlay City Schools, where he directs district productions and oversees theatre and musical theatre curriculum development. Recent directing credits at Imlay City include Annie, Grease, Clue, The Little Mermaid, and Puffs. He is also the Co-Artistic Director of Broadway Bound Student Theatre, directing productions across the Greater Genesee and Lapeer County area.
Previously, Don served as Visiting Assistant Professor of Theatre at Oakland University, where he taught courses including Acting the Song, Musical Theatre Singing Styles, Advanced Song Analysis, and Senior Showcase. He has directed and choreographed numerous collegiate productions and has mentored students who have gone on to collegiate and professional success.
Don is a board member of the Michigan Educational Theatre Association and was featured in the Michigan Department of Education’s #ProudMiEducator campaign.
